Dragon Software Support for HOOKERR_NONOTIFYWINDOW Error Message

If you're getting the message "COM returned an unexpected error code:  Details are HOOKERR_NONOTIFYWINDOW", it is likely your new attitude for the New Year is going out the door!  Having to shut down all applications and restart your computer is frustrating and just a temporary fix.

Take these steps to fix the problem:

• Confirm your version of Adobe Reader. (Help/About Adobe Reader X)

• If version 10.0, then update to Adobe Reader version 10.1.1 or higher. (Help/Check for Updates)

• Restart your computer.

• If you already have Adobe 10.1.1, and/or you still receive the error message, disable Adobe Reader X Protected Mode. (Edit/Preferences/General/Uncheck 'Enable Protected Mode at startup')

• If all else fails, uninstall Adober Reader X, restart your computer and install Adober Reader 9.

Dragon is a computer application that needs to hook into other software so that commands can be accomplished by voice.  Adobe X is not compatible with Dragon, preventing Dragon from accessing certain applications.
